How do I know if my boxes are sound?
Open the one under the sink. If the floor of it is flat and dry and the sides are not swelling, they are usually fine. If it is soft, the water has been in it, and that box at least is coming out.
Can I change the layout with refacing?
No, and that is the trade. Refacing is for the kitchen whose layout works. Moving a run means new boxes, which is the replace scope.
Do new counters go on old boxes?
Yes, and it is the most common refresh we do. The boxes are shimmed level first, because a quartz counter shows every dip the old laminate hid.
