Semi-custom cabinets
Semi-custom cabinets come from a factory in fixed widths, three inches apart, with the door style, finish and interior fittings chosen from a range. Filler strips take up the odd inches. They are the middle of the calendar and the middle of the budget, and they are what most kitchens around here are built with.

- 01A slab kitchen with the drains in the wrong place adds the concrete saw and a day

What does semi-custom not let me do?
An odd width without a filler, a depth other than the standard, and a finish the factory does not offer. If the room needs any of those, it is custom.
Why four to eight weeks?
The factory builds to order and ships by truck. Four weeks is a plain door in a stock finish; eight is a painted door in a colour they mix for you. The plan carries the actual date once the order is placed.
Plywood or particleboard boxes?
Plywood, on any kitchen with a dishwasher. It costs a little more and survives the leak that particleboard does not.
