Custom cabinets
Custom cabinets are built to the drawing by a shop, so a run can be exactly the length of the wall and a pantry exactly the depth the room allows. They are the reason a back-to-the-studs kitchen waits longest, because the shop starts when the drawings are signed and finishes when they are finished. On the budget they are the biggest line by a distance.

Asked about custom cabinets
Is custom worth it on an ordinary kitchen?
Usually not. Custom earns its wait when the room is awkward, the ceiling is high, or the finish is one nobody makes. On a straight run in a standard house, semi-custom gets you the same kitchen a month sooner.
Can the wait be shortened?
By signing the drawings early. The shop's clock starts at the signature, not at demolition, and we do not take a kitchen out until the boxes are built.
Who builds them?
A shop we have used before, named on the plan, with their own lead time written against the cabinets line. You can visit it.
